AngloLAN is suitable for English language schools and students of English as a Foreign Language who want to practise their English. It currently focuses on grammar for Intermediate students and above.
The program takes students through practice exercises based on topics of their choice. The program records their answers in a database and recycles questions for revision at appropriate intervals. The program gradually learns the strengths and weaknesses of the student and presents revision of weak points at more frequent intervals. The student gradually builds a score to achieve certificate levels.
The program is designed to be easy to use without intervention of a teacher. It allows students to get the correct amount of repetition and practice on topics which might be only briefly covered in class. It has been designed by practicing EFL teachers and uses pedagogically sound techniques. It provides immediate feedback to the student
The program can be installed on a stand-alone machine, but its particular strength is that it can be installed on a network. No CDs are required to run the program. Any student can get into his or her personal account from any machine on the network, and any number of students can use the system simultaneously. There are administrator functions so that teachers or supervisors can monitor students' progress.
